The Gender, Economy, Peace and Security research team (GEcPS)
Women’s participation in the economy and “development” is a major economic, social, cultural and ideological issue. This issue is at the center of the public policy agenda and in the initiatives implemented by a diversity of civil society actors, especially women and women’s organizations. However, the observation of global equilibria reveals a persistence of gender inequalities in the economic and labour fields. These inequalities are aggravated by the impact of crises and armed conflicts, factors of deterioration of the economy, impeding development and quality of life. Moreover, women are excluded or marginalized in peace and DDR processes and operations whose objective is to promote a return to an environment conducive to production and thus to improving the quality of life and development.
Under the coordination of Williams POKAM KAMDEM, the research team Gender, Economy, Peace and Security (GEcPS) is involved to the production of relevant scientific reflection and analysis through surveys, studies and training with a view to informing and helping to understand the need for greater participation by women in economic production, a factor in development, peace and integral security.
