Gender, Children, Peace and Security research team (GEPS)
Women and children, in addition to being victims of armed conflict, are key players in any peace process. To this end, their willingness and participation must be taken into account in all peace negotiation processes, peacekeeping operations and peacebuilding. Their involvement very often guarantees the success of peace operations because it ensures better access to local communities and, consequently, better promotion of human rights. This is undoubtedly why the United Nations gives them such a prominent place.
Under the coordination of Estelle Carine GASSI MATAGO, the research team « Gender, Children, Peace and Security » (GEPS) is involved to contribute to research into the place of women and children in the peace process, in order to help shape and understand this concern.
