Vulnerability and resilience of African women in times of armed conflict: state of play and perspectives was a real success.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/section>\n\t\t\t\t<section class=\"elementor-section elementor-top-section elementor-element elementor-element-1492a61 elementor-section-boxed elementor-section-height-default elementor-section-height-default\" data-id=\"1492a61\" the three presentations expected, the numerous participants were finally treated to just two, Doctor Mohamed Lamine MANGA, research professor at Ziguinchor's Assane Seck University, having been unavailable despite his motivation. Dr Ludovic POUNTOUGNIGNI NJUH acted as moderator.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/section>\n\t\t\t\t<section class=\"elementor-section elementor-top-section elementor-element elementor-element-d91401d elementor-section-boxed elementor-section-height-default elementor-section-height-default\" data-id=\"d91401d\" data-element_type=\"section\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-container elementor-column-gap-default\">\n\t\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-column elementor-col-100 elementor-top-column elementor-element elementor-element-069443f\" data-id=\"069443f\" data-element_type=\"column\">\n\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-widget-wrap elementor-element-populated\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-5ab4d60 elementor-widget elementor-widget-text-editor\" data-id=\"5ab4d60\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"text-editor.default\">\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-widget-container\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<p class=\"translation-block\">Ms. BABY AISSATA, UNFPA and ICRC-Mali expert in gender, human rights and gender-based violence, was the first speaker of the day, addressing the audience on the theme: \u201cBetween vulnerability and resilience, what is the impact of conflict on African women: conflict-related sexual violence? The presentation had two main objectives: to understand the motives and impact of sexual violence linked to armed conflict, and its impact on women and girls; and to question preventive measures and responses to this phenomenon.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/section>\n\t\t\t\t<section class=\"elementor-section elementor-top-section elementor-element elementor-element-4e42072 elementor-section-boxed elementor-section-height-default elementor-section-height-default\" data-id=\"4e42072\" data-element_type=\"section\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-container elementor-column-gap-default\">\n\t\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-column elementor-col-100 elementor-top-column elementor-element elementor-element-6b7854f\" data-id=\"6b7854f\" data-element_type=\"column\">\n\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-widget-wrap elementor-element-populated\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-255f303 elementor-widget elementor-widget-text-editor\" data-id=\"255f303\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"text-editor.default\">\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-widget-container\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<p class=\"MsoNormal\" style=\"text-align: justify; text-indent: 35.4pt;\"><span lang=\"FR\" style=\"font-size: 12.0pt; line-height: 107%; font-family: 'Times New Roman',serif; mso-bidi-font-weight: bold;\">Following a conceptual clarification of Conflict-Related Sexual Violence (CRSV) and, above all, its impact on women and girls, Ms. BABY AISSATA presented an overview of CRSV in Africa, and Mali in particular. The many statistics and case studies presented helped to make the presentation easier to understand.<\/span><\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/section>\n\t\t\t\t<section class=\"elementor-section elementor-top-section elementor-element elementor-element-13e562c elementor-section-boxed elementor-section-height-default elementor-section-height-default\" data-id=\"13e562c\" data-element_type=\"section\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-container elementor-column-gap-default\">\n\t\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-column elementor-col-100 elementor-top-column elementor-element elementor-element-4fe15ef\" data-id=\"4fe15ef\" data-element_type=\"column\">\n\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-widget-wrap elementor-element-populated\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-9c7f4f6 elementor-widget elementor-widget-text-editor\" data-id=\"9c7f4f6\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"text-editor.default\">\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-widget-container\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<p class=\"MsoNormal translation-block\" style=\"text-align: justify; text-indent: 35.4pt;\">According to Ms. BABY AISSATA, \u201cSLCVs are a cross-cutting issue requiring the mobilization of multiple players, including host countries, UN country teams, humanitarian country teams, NGOs and civil society organizations\u201d.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/section>\n\t\t\t\t<section class=\"elementor-section elementor-top-section elementor-element elementor-element-0822705 elementor-section-boxed elementor-section-height-default elementor-section-height-default\" data-id=\"0822705\" data-element_type=\"section\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-container elementor-column-gap-default\">\n\t\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-column elementor-col-100 elementor-top-column elementor-element elementor-element-7aca85d\" data-id=\"7aca85d\" data-element_type=\"column\">\n\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-widget-wrap elementor-element-populated\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-003a68b elementor-widget elementor-widget-text-editor\" data-id=\"003a68b\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"text-editor.default\">\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-widget-container\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<p class=\"MsoNormal translation-block\" style=\"text-align: justify; text-indent: 35.4pt;\">The second paper was presented by Professor Eric Wilson FOFACK, Executive Director of the Center for Gender, Peace and Security (CGEPS), on the theme: Between vulnerability and resilience: the impact of war on African women. He spoke to participants on the issue of women's vulnerability in times of conflict, in an attempt to understand and relativize the situation. In addition, he presented armed conflicts as factors structuring women's resilience.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/section>\n\t\t\t\t<section class=\"elementor-section elementor-top-section elementor-element elementor-element-02b71a4 elementor-section-boxed elementor-section-height-default elementor-section-height-default\" data-id=\"02b71a4\" data-element_type=\"section\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-container elementor-column-gap-default\">\n\t\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-column elementor-col-100 elementor-top-column elementor-element elementor-element-d60e1fa\" data-id=\"d60e1fa\" data-element_type=\"column\">\n\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-widget-wrap elementor-element-populated\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-5b9256e elementor-widget elementor-widget-text-editor\" data-id=\"5b9256e\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"text-editor.default\">\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-widget-container\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<p class=\"translation-block\">According to the ICRC, \u201cthe notion of vulnerability covers the dangers to which women are exposed, their ability to cope with the situations, stress, shock and trauma of war\u201d. Beyond this, it appears that war has sometimes led to the \u201cdemarginalization\u201d of women, by developing in them an attitude of resilience. Women's resilience in times of armed conflict is proof of their extreme courage, their immense potential, and their extraordinary capacity to adapt and survive whatever the circumstances.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/section>\n\t\t\t\t<section class=\"elementor-section elementor-top-section elementor-element elementor-element-3c06c2c elementor-section-boxed elementor-section-height-default elementor-section-height-default\" data-id=\"3c06c2c\" data-element_type=\"section\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-container elementor-column-gap-default\">\n\t\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-column elementor-col-100 elementor-top-column elementor-element elementor-element-2246ae0\" data-id=\"2246ae0\" data-element_type=\"column\">\n\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-widget-wrap elementor-element-populated\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-ad79e2b elementor-widget elementor-widget-text-editor\" data-id=\"ad79e2b\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"text-editor.default\">\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-widget-container\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<p class=\"MsoNormal\" style=\"text-align: justify; text-indent: 35.4pt;\"><span lang=\"FR\" style=\"font-size: 12.0pt; line-height: 107%; font-family: 'Times New Roman',serif; mso-bidi-font-weight: bold; mso-bidi-font-style: italic;\">At the end of the second presentation, an exchange between the participants and the speakers shed light on certain aspects of the subject under debate. The quality of the exchanges and the participants reinforced the CGEPS team's ambition to contribute to the evolution of the debate on the role and place of women in issues of peace and security in
